A Historic Milestone in the Life of KMS

The record induction of 640 Life Members scripts an unforgettable chapter in the legacy of Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir Society

On the morning of 24 January 2026, the rain-washed courtyards of the Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir Society shimmered under a generous winter sun—as if the day itself had dressed up for history. That morning, 640 new Life Members stepped into the sacred fold of KMS, welcomed at the Lotus Feet of Devadidev Mahadev, Maa Dakshinakali, and Radha Govind Ji, with Maa Saraswati presiding gently over the proceedings.

This was no ordinary induction. It was a moment many had waited for—some for decades, others after countless failed attempts—often resigning themselves to the belief that membership of this revered institution was a dream meant for a select few. Yet, belief has a way of returning when faith meets perseverance.

Under the leadership of Dr. Rajiv Nag, the KMS management team accomplished what once seemed unthinkable, etching two unprecedented achievements into the collective memory of CR Park:

  1. A constitutional amendment expanding the Life Membership cap to 2,500, and

  2. The induction of 640 Life Members in a single phase—the largest in KMS history.

The ripple effect was immediate and electric. Awe turned into action. Within days, over 1,000 application forms poured in. Long, patient queues outside the KMS office became a daily sight—quiet testimony to the deep emotional bond residents share with the Mandir. Behind the scenes, the Scrutiny Team worked tirelessly, poring over each application with care, integrity, and transparency, determined to honour both process and people.

When the approved members’ list was announced on 1 December, the Mandir premises came alive with smiles, folded hands, spontaneous embraces, and congratulations exchanged between strangers who suddenly felt like family. What surprised even the management was the depth of emotion this moment stirred—tears welled up in many eyes upon hearing the news of acceptance. In that instant, it became clear: KMS is not merely an institution; it is memory, identity, and belonging.

To welcome these new members home, KMS organised a Meet & Greet, designed to familiarise them with the ethos, functioning, and future vision of the Society. The atmosphere was warm and celebratory. Members posed joyfully with their freshly issued Life Member I-cards, clicking photographs against the serene backdrop of the Mandir—moments of pride captured forever. It felt less like a formal induction and more like a long-awaited homecoming.

Following introductions of the Managing Committee, members were invited to share how they could contribute to the institution’s growth. What followed was inspiring—ideas, experiences, and insights flowed freely, reaffirming that KMS’s greatest strength lies in its people. Many spoke passionately about taking the Society to even greater heights as Delhi NCR’s most loved religious and socio-cultural institution.

As the meeting drew to a close, members departed with hot Bhog thalis in their hands, KMS Life Member cards proudly displayed, and hearts brimming with quiet joy.
