A Celebration of Bengal, Right in the Heart of South Delhi

Durga Puja is the grandest and most spectacular celebration in Chittaranjan Park — a festival that brings together the sights, sounds, flavours and traditions of Bengal in the heart of South Delhi.

For five days, CR Park transforms into a vibrant cultural landscape of beautifully decorated pandals, majestic Durga idols, dhak beats, devotional rituals, cultural performances, food stalls and thousands of visitors.

In 2026, Durga Puja will be celebrated from October 16 (Shashthi) to October 21 (Dashami), with Ashtami on October 18 (Sunday) and Navami on October 19 (Monday) forming the heart of the celebrations.

D Block

Tip: Don't treat pandal hopping as a race. The charm of CR Park lies as much in its streets, conversations, dhak beats and food aromas as in the pandals themselves.

During Puja, Chittaranjan Park becomes almost a little piece of Bengal in Delhi.

Expect Ashtami and Navami evenings to be particularly busy.

If you prefer a more relaxed experience, consider visiting on Shashthi, Saptami or a weekday evening.

Getting Around CR Park

🚇 Metro: Nearest convenient metro stations include Nehru Enclave and Greater Kailash, followed by a short auto/e-rickshaw ride depending on your starting point.

🚗 Driving: Best avoided during peak Puja hours. Traffic restrictions, crowds and limited parking can make driving inconvenient.

👟 Walking: Pandal hopping is best experienced on foot. Wear comfortable footwear and be prepared to walk several kilometres.

Photography Etiquette

The pandals and their exteriors are wonderful photographic subjects, but remember that Puja is first and foremost a religious celebration.

📸 Feel free to photograph décor and public spaces.

🙏 Be respectful around rituals and worshippers.

📷 Ask before taking close-up photographs of people.

🌺 During important rituals such as Sandhi Puja, keep photography unobtrusive and follow the organisers' instructions.

And Then Comes Dashami…

The mood changes on Bijoya Dashami.

After days of celebration, the Goddess prepares to return to her celestial home. The streets that were filled with music, food, lights and laughter take on a more emotional character as idols leave their pandals for immersion.
